Chromecast is a streaming device that will allow you to stream content from your mobile or PC to your TV. Simultaneously, many TVs nowadays come with in-built cast support. Reboot and Restart Chromecast
The following method will help you to reboot or restart your Google Chromecast. There are two ways to do it. One is from the Google Home app. and another once is via the power source.
How to Reboot / Restart Chromecast: Using Google Home app
This method stays the same for both Android or iOS smartphone or tablet.
Step 1: Connect your mobile phone or tablet to the same WiFi network as that of your Google Chromecast. This will help your phone to recognize your Chromecast device.
Step 2: On your smartphone, open the Google Home app. You must be configured the app with your device earlier.
Step 3: Choose your Chromecast device name which you would like to restart.
Step 4: At the top right corner of your mobile, click on Settings (Gear like icon).
Step 5: Then click on the three-dotted icon on the top right corner.
Step 6: Now, choose the Reboot option.
Step 7: On the confirmation screen, click the OK button. After that, your Google Chromecast will restart.
How to Restart / Reboot Chromecast: From the Power source
This wouldn’t require the app or any other device. And this method is very useful if your screen freezes or the screen went blank.
Step 1: Unplug the Chromecast from the power source. Just simply remove the power cord from the Chromecast device.
Step 2: Leave for at least 1 minute.
Step 3: Then plug the power cord in. And turn your device on.
Remember unplugging your Chromecast device from the HDMI port of your TV doesn’t help with the restart. It just disconnects the device from the TV. Moreover, the device is still running in the background.
Reset your Chromecast to Factory Settings
If none of the above methods has got you the expected results, you have another option. You got to reset the Chromecast device to the factory settings. This means all your data and info or configurations will be deleted. In fact, your account logged in will also be deleted. In short, the device will turn to the default settings.
