Chromecast is one of the cheapest and popular streaming dongle owned by Google. It lets you project media contents wirelessly from your mobile, tablets, or computer to your TV. By connecting it to the HDMI port of the TV, it changes your normal TV into a Smart TV. While using Chromecast for the first time, you need to go through the setup process in order to cast the media contents. All you have to do is download the Google Home app and follow the on-screen instructions.

Prerequisite:

  • A Chromecast device
  • The latest version of Google Home app on your Android or iOS device
  • A display device with HDMI input
  • Internet connection operating at 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz

How to Setup Chromecast

Step 1: Connect your Chromecast to the HDMI port of the TV with the help of HDMI cable.

Step 2: With the help of the provided power adapter, power your casting device. It is recommended to not use the USB Ports available on your TV.

Step 3: Turn on your TV and ensure to select the right input source.

Step 4: On your TV screen, the Chromecast will display a message stating “Set me up.”

Step 5: Download latest version of Google Home app on your device.

Step 6: Launch the app and tap Get Started.

Step 7: Enter a nickname and address for your Home. Tap Next.

Step 8: The app will search for the nearby Chromecast device. Once your device appears on the app screen, select it and tap Next.

Step 9: A four digit code will appear on both app and TV screen.

Step 10: If the code matches with the other, tap Yes.

Step 11: Enter a name for your Chromecast and tap Continue.

Step 12: Select “Yes I’m in” if you want your device to send stats and crash reports back to Google. Select No thanks if you don’t want to send those details.

Step 13: Select a location for your Chromecast and then, click Next.

Step 14: Select a WiFi network and click Next.

Step 15: If your device is connected to the selected network, the password will be taken automatically from your device. You don’t need to enter the password manually.

After completing the setup process, you can launch any Chromecast-compatible app on your Smartphone or tablet and cast the screen to TV display as long as both devices are connected to the same network. The supported apps will display a cast icon on their home screen.
